Another jaw dropping revelation from the Lib Dem standard bearer here in Pendle.

Afzal Anwar, the Lib Dem candidate for Pendle, told a reporter from the flagship BBC File on Four programme earlier today that his sons are being educated privately in Pakistan.

I listened in amazement as Anwar defended his decision saying he was merely exercising parental choice.

The revelation came during a tour of the new £25 million Marsden Heights Community College which opened its doors for students yesterday.

What hope is there for building a cohesive community in this part of Pendle if parents like Afzal Anwar send their sons back to Pakistan to be educated?

I am genuinely shocked that someone standing for election to the British Parliament does not want his sons to be educated here.
